President Gokhool had a fruitful and constructive exchange today with Mr. Percy Georges Laxade, Chairperson, and Mr. Hemraj Rubee, CEO, of the Development Bank of Mauritius (DBM). Views were exchanged on the bank’s strategic vision and its important role as a partner in supporting entrepreneurs across the island. New technology, green energy, and good governance were highlighted as key drivers of sustainable economic development and sector revitalization. The conversation also centered on innovative DBM projects, such as the installation of solar PV systems on DBM buildings, with plans being discussed with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources to expand this to schools and other government-owned buildings. Other initiatives discussed include programs to empower agropreneurs, improve food security, and strengthen the agricultural sector. President Gokhool also took note of progress on the Technopark in Baladirou, Rodrigues, a collaboration between DBM and the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, which will provide new facilities and opportunities to support local development once operational.
